COVID-19 Shipping!
We hope everyone is doing well in these crazy times.
All is well here at Mt Pleasant Herps, Roxanne and I remain healthy and mostly isolated (easy to do in the middle of the woods on the top of a mountain) and the snakes are doing great. We have new eggs in the incubator and snakes continuing to breed. In other words, business as usual as far as the snakes are concerned 😊
The only thing that is NOT business as usual is shipping. With the current state of the country, especially here in the Northeast, the shipping contractors are starting to see more issues in the FedEx system due to sheer volume and staffing shortages as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak. This means more 24-hour delays, with the possibility of 48-hour delays in some instances. Also, FedEx is currently operating under “Peak Protocols,” meaning that FedEx agents are limited in how quickly they can assist and limited in what they’re able to assist with.
Lastly, FedEx and multiple shipping contractors have suspended all late arrival guarantees and live arrival insurance. What this means is they are recognizing the risk in the significant delays in packages getting to where they are going.
As much as we want to get your snakes to you and as much as we will soon need the space for the 2020 hatchlings, we have to put the health and well-being of the snakes first. To us the risk of something going wrong with the shipment that would jeopardize the health and welfare of the snakes is too great so we will not be shipping until FedEx is better able to get your snakes to you alive and well without delay.
As always, we are more than happy to hold your purchased snake(s) until it is safe to ship them. During the time your snake is with us we will be in contact weekly, typically Sunday evening, with the most current information we have regarding the possibility of shipping.
